Artist statement
With this new series of paintings, I am attempting to evoke the sense of a new world, seen through the eyes of a child born in the 1950s. Robotic toys and toy-like molecular models are the starting point. With their anthropomorphic features, the toys, like the Ice Cream Sundae series before, can be seen to connect to the aesthetic of children¹s cartoons and early science fiction imagery from films of the 1950s.
