What is grafeo?
Grafeo is a general name that I have given my exercises in abstract calligraphy that explore the notion of a collective subconscious of written expression. Sometimes the grafeos exist on their own, others they are part of more complex art projects.

The grafeos evolved from the work on propaganda in democratic societies. In the grafeos the text overlaps, it has been erased, scratched, and it is incomplete. They also contain elements from eastern calligraphy, arabic and paleo-arabic alphabets, and egyptian and cuneiform systems.
